New fire, old ice

August 14, 2010

If Robert Frost were alive today,
he might revise his Fire and Ice;
Just what he’d write I cannot say,
though he may roll over once or twice.

Some say our economy will perish in deflation,
while others will say inflation.
From what I’ve tasted of consumption,
I hold with inflation, as the more likely presumption.
But if I had to stare stagflation down
I think I know enough of unpaid bills
to say deflation does confound
and kills,
and  makes us still recession bound.
